Whistler

Located about 135 Kms North of Vancouver, Whistler is one of the best ski areas in the world. Whistler has a population of just under 10,000, but that always swells in the high seasons, both in the winter for skiing, and in the summer for hiking and sightseeing. Whistler was the main center for the 2010 winter Olympics and has given Vancouver a lot of attention. Whistler was first settled in 1914 and became an official municipality in 1975. The village of Whistler is famous for Whistler mountain, but there is also Blackcomb mountain, which is part of the resort. Today, there is a cable car that can take you from the peak of Whistler to the Peak of Blackcomb. Whistler is definitely worth visiting when in British Columbia.
