The capital city of British Columbia, Victoria is situated on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Victoria has a population of about 340,000 who work in many different industries, including, high tech, which is the largest employer in the city. European settlers first arrived in Victoria around 1700, and found some aboriginal communities in the area. Victoria then had several names, and was used as a fort, a settlement, and finally a city. Today, most tourists who come to BC will pay a visit to Victoria and take many Victoria photos. The government of British Columbia is also based in Victoria.
