Vasa Museum

This museum, the Vasa Museum (Vasamuseet) is dedicated to and houses the Vasa, a ship that was built in 1628 for the king of Sweden. Unfortunately, the ship sank on it’s maiden voyage on August 10th of the same year. The reason it sank was attributed to a design flaw of not having enough balast and being too top heavy.

The ship was salvaged in 1961 and kept in a ship yard until 1987 when the Vasa museum was built.

It’s interesting to spend some time to look at the ship and all the surrounding items.
