Tokyo means “Eastern Capital” in Japanese, and is one of the largest cities in the world as well as having one of the highest standards of living. Part of the reason Tokyo is officially really big is because of the way the municipal administration was organized, putting different wards and other cities under Tokyo, making it officially having a population of about 35 million people.
The mainland portion of Tokyo lies northwest of Tokyo Bay and measures about 90 km east to west and 25 km north to south.
One of the interesting attractions in Tokyo is the Meiji Jingu which is well worth seeing.
