Sukhothai (สุโขทัย) was founded by King Si Indrathit, the founder of the Phra Ruang dynasty. Sukhothai later on became Thailand’s first capital. Translating as “Dawn of Happiness”, Sukhothai reach it’s apex under the kingdom’s third monarch, King Ramkhamhaeng, who created guidelines for administrative, political, economic, and religious practices. More importantly, King Ramkhamhaeng also created the Thai alphabet which was the true beginning of the nation of Thailand.
Today, Sukhothai is a famous tourist destination where people from all over the world come to see the ancient ruins of the old city and get Sukhothai Photos. Truly an amazing place.
