The Roman Amphitheater in Kom Al-Dikka (المسرح الروماني في كوم الدكة) was built in the second century AD, and was discovered in 1967 in the same manner that most ancient Alexandria sites are discovered, when something else was being built over the site. The Roman Amphitheater was built to seat about 800 spectators. The site of the Roman Amphitheater also has many other unexcavated parts and is still a work in progress.
