Because of it’s unique style, Paris is one of the most visited cities in Europe. Whether you are there for the romantic atmosphere, the site seeing, the architecture, or all of the above, Paris is a visual treat.
The most photographed object in the world, the Eiffel tower is truly spectacular to see, it’s only when you are standing below the tower and looking upwards, or standing close by watching it as the sun sets, that you truly understand why it’s such a famous monument. It’s also very visible from many locations in Paris.
The Louvre museum is home to some of the most famous art works in the world, items such as the Mona Lisa and the lady of Auxerre. It used to be a Royal palace and has been built, torn down, rebuilt, and renovated continually since 1535 until today. To see the Louvre can easily take a week depending on one’s interest in arts, but it alone attracts millions each year.
Notre Dame de Paris was built between 1163 and 1345, and like many of the famous sites in Paris, did not happen all at once, but in phases. Today it is one of the most visited sites in the city. Famous for the Gargoyles in it’s top. This church was also the inspiration of the setting for the “Hunch back of Notre Dame”. Arc de Triumphe stands at over 51 meters high and 45 meters wide. Another monument to French history, it can be seen from almost every part of the Champs Elysées and the attractions along it.
Basilica of the Sacré Coeur and the Institut De France are two of many architectural attractions one sees while traveling around Paris. Below are some of my favourite photos from Paris, France.
