Eastern Desert

Although not very big, the Eastern Desert (الصحراء الشرقية) was very important in Egyptian history because it was where most of the enemies would come from. Egypt was rarely ever threatened by anyone from Africa, it was always from Asia and the middle East, so the eastern desert is actually still full of ancient sites to remind us of these times.

The White house was used by El Khedevy Ismail, one of the rulers of Egypt, as a weekend palace. It was where he would have his wild parties and meet his mistress(es). Now it is on the edge of a military target practice area, and you feel you are in a war while visiting it.
