Until 1869 Castletown was the capital of the Isle of Man, and then Douglas took that away from it. The population of Castletown is about 3,000 people which is very small, but makes it the fourth largest town on the Isle of Man.
Castletown photos on this page mainly focus on the centre area of the city and the small harbour. The only real point of interest in Castletown is Castle Rushen which is a medieval castle thought to have been built in the 12th century.
Castletown also has a memorial in the middle of the mains square (part of the Castletown photos below) to Cornelius Smelt.
