The Capital of Egypt, Cairo (القاهرة) is the largest city in Africa and the middle East and the 16th largest in the world. Cairo has more than one thousand years of history, and has been in the control of the French, the British, and the Ottoman empire at one point or another in it’s history. Today, it is busy, noisy, and polluted, but has a character of its own and is worth the visit if you are in Egypt, especially of course if you want to see the Pyramids.
