Located in Anmore, BC, Buntzen lake was named after the first head of the BC electric company. Buntzen lake has been used to provide hydro-electric power to greater Vancouver since 1903. At the same time, Buntzen lake is open as a recreation area with trails, beaches, and even waterfalls. Buntzen lake has a surface area of just under 2 square kms, and has about 65 meters maximum depth. One of the main attractions of Buntzen lake is that it’s very close to the city and can easily be hiked around in a few hours. However, for those more adventurous explorers, a few difficult trails go around Buntzen lake.
