On the west coast of Canada is British Columbia, or BC for short. British Columbia became the sixth province in Canada in 1871, and is one of the most beautiful places on earth. British Columbia has a population of about 4.5 million, most of which live around the Vancouver area, which is the biggest city in BC, although the Capital of British Columbia is actually Victoria, which is on Vancouver Island. At about 945,000 square kilometers, British Columbia takes up just under 10% of the surface area of Canada and is bigger than many countries.
