Photos From Upper Egypt (Southern Egypt) - Egypt

Upper Egypt is the term used to describe the southern part of Egypt. It's interesting that the race of most people who live in the south is Nubian, which is characterized by very dark skin but features that are closer to what you would find in the North. Nubians are very nice people and are very hospitable.

The locks at Esna, where all boats going between Luxor and Aswan have to pass. These locks allow the boats to go through dams on the Nile at different water levels.

Along the Nile in Southern Egypt are many ancient sites like this one here where you see the false doors of Pharaonic tombs.
