Photos from Shuhe old town - Yunnan - China

This old town which is very close to Lijiang has tried to replicate the success that the Lijiang old town has in terms of tourism, and therefore has built this quaint little old town where people can walk around and shop and eat. I personally liked this little old town better mainly because it was smaller and quieter than Lijiang, but, for that same very reason, it's not doing as well and therefore don't know how long that will last. This little town is also part of the UNESCO Heritage site designation.

Naxi architecture use cats on the roof pointing towards the front of the house. This is supposed to protect the house and keep it safe from evil.
