Probably my favourite city in China, Shanghai is a friendly, humble, yet competitive city and is truly vibrant with many events and developments taking place. ShangHai is the business capital of mainland China, and like many other Chinese cities, is trying to attract more investments and coping with the rapid growth and improvements in the living standards in China.
Shanghai is a city of contrasts with areas like the Bund which dates back to before the second world war, and other newly developed areas such as the PuDong development area with ultra modern sky scrapers and towers.
The Huangpu river is like a highway of boats and ships of all sizes, I have never seen a busier river in any city I went to, but again, this reflects the active industry within this city and country.
Like
many Chinese cities, Shanghai really lights up by night, beautiful colours
make it one or the nicest cities I have seen by night. This skyline with the
Oriental pearl tower is becoming one of the major marks of ShangHai.
Nanjing Road, one of the major shopping areas in ShangHai, is a walk only road and is very bright by night.
The
bund is lit up nightly until about 9pm to conserve energy and is truly worth
the view at night. It is therefore expected that thousands of people like to
walk by the river at this time and is very busy.
One of many residential neighbourhoods within ShangHai, there is great emphasis on improving the quality of life in ShangHai and it shows in every new development.
