Pyramids of Egypt - Egypt The pyramids of Giza are one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, in fact, it is the only surviving wonder from that ancient world. Everyone who saw the pyramids for the first time with me expressed their amazement, specially when they discovered that the pyramids are much bigger than they had imagined. From pictures, one would think they are in the middle of the desert, in fact, they are right on the edge Greater Cairo, the only reason Cairo hasn't surrounded them till now is the restriction on building due to the abundance of archaeological sites around the pyramids. More surprising is the fact that there are around 60 pyramids in Egypt, but no one ever gets to hear about most of the other smaller ones. For example, at Giza there are actually ten pyramids, not three, the other seven are very small and were probably made for the wives of the kings. There are lots of pyramids in Egypt, but a lot of them are very small and therefore not famous. Ancient battered pyramids like these ones show the evolution of pyramid building in Egypt.
