Ottawa is the Capital of Canada. It houses the federal government and most foreign embassies in Canada. The city is focused on government and federal services and therefore most of the economy is based on that.

Centre Block is where the house of parliament resides, where all the major Canadian government decisions are made. It was constructed between 1916 and 1920.

The senate is where senators debate and approve government billls.

The house of commons is where MP's from representing all over Canada gather each day to discuss and debate the future. The Peace tower pays tribute to Canada's soldiers.

The library of parliament is one of the most extraordinary examples of Gothic Revival architecture in Canada, it was built 1876, and survived the devastating fire of 1916 which destroyed the original Centre Block.
