This site in Fayoum, called Kom El Atl, or Bacchias, started around the third century BC as a border town on the edge of the desert road between Memphis and other ancient settlements. Kom El Atl was abandoned around the fourth century BC. Today, Kom El Atl has mostly disintegrated from the weather, but some large mudbrick structures still remain, and many ancient artifacts were found here at Kom El Atl. Taking Kom El Atl Photos is a bit challenging because of the size of the site and the contrast.
