Photos from Havana - Cuba
I never felt I was really in Cuba until I got to Havana. This magnificent city speaks of culture, history, and character. It's busy, and reminds me of Alexandria in Egypt, same type of colonial architecture but much more. It's interesting to see how similar the world is. One thing I noticed before going to Cuba is that there are lots of photos of Cubans on the web, Cubans who look Cuban with a cigar in their mouth and a unique photo look. Well, after going to Havana I realized why, these people are all over tourist areas looking pretty and different from every normal Cuban so they attract you to take photos in return for money. The only person I took a photo of is one I think was a Cuban who wasn't there for picture taking.
The Havana Statue of Christ, the sea promenade in Havana with the famous light house.
In revolution square, the tower of Havana stands tall showing the pride and culture of the Cuban people. Below are the ministry of interior with the world famous "Che" as well as the presidential palace (right) where Fidel Castro works.
Old Havana
The Cathedral in old Havana has great historical value.
Architecture shows culture, specially within old Havana. To the right is the "La Bodeguita del Medio" bar where the famous writer Ernest Hemingway used to hang out, for some reason this is a big deal in Cuba.
The "Officina del historiador de la cuidad" is the old government house and is open to the public to view. It's worth a visit to see the fine stately rooms.
Every where in Cuba you will see security and/or police who watch out for you, making it one of the safest places I have been to. The photo to the right shows one of the 64,000 graves in the Christopher Columbus acropolis in Havana.
