Photos of gannets at Cape Kidnappers - Hawkes Bay - New Zealand
One of the biggest gannet colonies in New Zealand, Cape Kidnappers is also a spectacular example of past volcanic eruptions and seismic events. It received it's name from captain Cook after local Maoris attempted to kidnap a young Tahitian boy from his ship "Endeavour".
The beaches around the cape are beautiful
A family of more than 15,000 members, the Booby family of gannets make their home at cape kidnappers while they raise their young.
