Photos of Franz and Fox glaciers - South Island - New Zealand

Over the past 200 years, both the fox and Franz Josef Glaciers have been steadily retreating. They are still however, still magnificent. The Franz Josef Glacier was named after the Austrian emperor, and the Fox named after a previous New Zealand prime minister. Guides can take you on a trek up the glaciers where you are able to see some great views of both the glaciers and the southern Alps.
