Photos from the Eastern Desert - Deserts - Egypt
Although not very big, the Eastern Desert was very important in Egyptian history because it was where most of the enemies would come from. Egypt was rarely ever threatened by anyone in Africa, it was always from Asia and the middle East, so this desert is actually still full of ancient sites to remind us of these times.
The East coast highway (if you can call it one) takes you all the way to the South Eastern corner of Egypt
Dar El Beida (The White House)
The White house was used by El Khedevy Ismail, one of the rulers of Egypt, as a weekend palace. It was where he would have his wild parties and meet his mistress(es). Now it is on the edge of a military target practice area, and you feel you are in a war while visiting it. The Eastern desert is full of mountains and hills, here are some pictures.
