Photos from Downtown Cairo - Egypt
Like any other Down Town, Cairo's is very busy, and it's almost impossible to get a parking spot. It has its own character, and style of architecture, most buildings are quite old, European style, with some new high rises that are starting to take over. The Nile runs right in the center of down town, and so, it is hard to get a picture of that area without the Nile.
This picture was taken from the Cairo tower (seen in later pictures). The high building on the right of the picture is the Ramsis Hilton Hotel. Middle one is the Egyptian Broadcasting Corporation, and third is the foreign ministry building. The bridge is the 6th October bridge, the longest in Egypt (total 13 Kms and growing).
Gezira is an island in the Nile near down town Cairo, it is one of the most expensive areas to live in Egypt, and has one of the few golf courses too.
This is the Cairo tower (highest building in Egypt), where the previous pictures were taken from. Just to the right of that is the Arab League building, where lots of decisions about the middle East are made. This is Tahrir square, one of the busiest in Cairo.
Even Egypt has it's fair share of advertising
