Photos from Cuba

This Caribbean island less than 100 miles from the southern coast of the United States is famous for it's cigars and rum. Visiting a cigar factory when you're there is definitely worth it as it will show you more than just how cigars are made, it will give you an insight as the the practical application of socialism, where everyone is equal, regardless of role or job. One thing to take note of when you're going to Cuba is that as of June 2003 DVD players (including computers with DVD drives) are not allowed in Cuba, if you bring one, it will be confiscated at the airport and returned to you when you are leaving.

The Cuban license plate for a tourist bus is blue which is different than the regular orange coloured private cars. To the right are T-shirts for sale of "Che" one of Cuba's national heroes.

Years of economic embargoes by the US has limited the types of products found in Cuba although oddly enough Kodak and Coca Cola can easily be found. One of the trademarks of the Cuban road are the old American cars that roam the streets since before the embargoes. At the same time the Russian trade is booming with many Russian cars such as this Lada on the roads.
