Being the biggest city in New Zealand, at just under 1.5 million, Auckland is home to over one third of Kiwis. Auckland combines the hustle and bustle of a large city with the beauty and serenity of a rural area. just a 30 minute ferry ride takes you to Waiheke Island or any other one, where you are suddenly faced with beauty hard to compare on this earth.
The sky tower (328m), the tallest building in the southern hemisphere, is a prominent feature in the Auckland skyline which conveys the ultra modern city image that Auckland is.

Downtown Auckland is a very interesting place. While I was there, the America's cup was playing and you could take a water taxi tour of the America's cup village.
