Photos of Ancient Egyptian sites - Egypt Most people come to Egypt to see the contents of this page (and more). You must remember that when you visit in person, it is much nicer, and things are much grander. I take this opportunity to assure you that Egypt is one of the safest countries in the world. These rare acts of terrorism were done by the fundamentalists to scare tourists away, and unfortunately, they did. I can tell you that the Egyptian government has very good security on all tourist areas, and you will be very safe there. The only places you should not go to are the Southern areas of Asuit and out of the way places in Southern Egypt, this is where a lot of the remains of terrorists hide out, so just ask your local embassy when you get there, and they will tell you where not to go.
Temple of Abu Simbel, is about 300 Kms south of Aswan, carved out of rock, and is definitely worth the visit.
These statues were there to protect the west coast of Luxor, they are the first things you see when you cross to the other side of the Nile in Luxor.
A view of Luxor, the temple of Luxor can be seen. The building in the fore ground is the Luxor police station.
This was taken from the Luxor temple, the picture above was taken from the building you can see behind the palm tree on the left.
This is the West bank of Luxor, you can get great deals on souvenirs from these houses.
